Hear and Say Research & Innovation is the research and development arm of the Hear and Say Centre.
Working in collaboration with other parties and in-house initiatives, Research & Innovation provides an evidence base for the vital work that Hear and Say does clinically each day for our children with hearing loss and their families (Hear and Say Children & Families) and for our worldwide education and training programs (Hear and Say WorldWide). Research and Innovation aims to act as a catalyst for bringing together many innovative minds working together to globally enhance hearing health.
Hear and Say Children & Families
Hear and Say is a world leading organisation which supports young children with hearing loss and their families. Children learn to listen and speak using a combination of modern hearing technology and Auditory-Verbal Therapy education techniques, in which parents are taught to facilitate their child’s listening and spoken language.

Who is involved?
Research & Innovation is made up of a diverse group. They include Hear and Say research and clinical team, and professionals and researchers from around Australia, who are interested in hearing and hearing loss.
The flagship of Hear and Say Research & Innovation is the HEARing Co-operative Research Centre (www.hearingcrc.org/home), a consortium of 25 universities, hearing healthcare companies, professional associations and clinical service agencies, established and funded through the Commonwealth Government’s Cooperative Research Centres Programme.

Who requires hearing health care?
Hearing loss is the most common disability for newborns world wide.
There are 278 million people throughout the world with hearing loss. In Australia alone there are 3 in 1000 children born with hearing loss, with an estimated economic impact of those who suffer from hearing loss in Australia estimated to be cost $11.75 billion.
